Weekends out West

Last weekend we headed West for a quick weekend getaway to Charleville. We were spoiled with a sky full of heavy rain clouds hanging moodily overhead, a rare treat for the drought stricken Qld outback. Almost 700km West of Brisbane Charleville runs along the banks of the Warrego River making it’s claim as the Bilby capital of Australia. The Charleville community has done some amazing work to save the Bilby from near extinction, the extent of which is promoted in the Bilby Experience tour which, as the name suggests, lets you get up close with some local Bibly’s. Those little cuties aren’t too fond of camera flashes and being nocturnal, we weren’t able to get a great shot of them. You will just have to get out to Charleville to see them for yourself! A big thanks to our awesome cousins, Soph and Ambrose for the good ol’ country hospitality. We loved every minute with you and feel refreshed from the fresh air and welcoming spirit of the town. This is just a mini-post to capture some of the fun and beauty of our weekend out West.
