Rock Bottom!

We have hit rock bottom! After the high of Karratha and a bed inside solid walls, the fall back to the life of a camper has hit extremely hard. We pulled in to Exmouth 10 minutes too late to check into the caravan park, the National Park campgrounds are all full and there are on the spot fines of $100 for camping and there are signs everywhere! Apparently, 6pm is the latest you can grab a patch of grass for a tent in Exmouth!

We decided to get a pizza to eat away our worries only to be asked in an empty restaurant, “do you have a booking?” We thought they were kidding…they weren’t. Apparently we could have a table but they couldn’t take our order for half an hour but happy to serve us a takeaway pizza immediately but failed to clarify the size. “About a plate” was the best we got.

We have now taken refuge in the Exmouth Diner which fortunately offers free wifi so we thought we take the chance while we are feeling homeless to share our thoughts.

PS. We even added our own cheese on our hamburgers to save $1 at the diner!

  1. Yep. Unfortunately it seems your Exmouth experience was somewhat like ours. I think the local shire coat of arms has something like Creato Difficultum ad Alieno” – let’s make it as difficult as possible for visitors.

    Fantastic water though.

  2. I’m sorry I laughed but its a memory you’ll have forever… how crap is Exmouth!! I love Dads Latin though 🙂
